ICS100-200 Training North Huntingdon Township

Rain Public Planning provided ICS100-200 overview training to Westmoreland County emergency services providers under contract with North Huntingdon Township, Emergency Management. Training took place on November 13, 2018.


PCCD Act 44 Certified School Safety and Security Provider

Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) has certified Garret Rain of Rain Public Planning as a School Safety and Security Provider. Having been so certified, Rain Public Planning is an Authorized Act 44 School Safety Grant Provider and so listed on PCCD's registry.

Region 6 School Safety Threat Assessment Training

Friday, April 6, 2018, Rain Public Planning will be presenting Region 6 School Safety Threat Assessment Training. The training is hosted by Intermediate Unit 8 Altoona-Johnstown and run from 9 AM to about 3 PM.

The AM session will discuss "How to Evaluate My School's Physical Site Security" and the afternoon will address, "How to Identify & Evaluate 'At-Risk' Student Threats."

IU08 Altoona-Johnstown EOP "Functional Annexes Workshop"

Friday, February 23rd. Rain Public Planning presented an "Emergency Operations Planning (EOP) "Functional Annexes Worship" for school planners at the Altoona-Johnstown Intermediate Unit. In this daylong training, participants learned while building core "tool box" protective action (functional) planning annexes.

EOP Functional Annexes Workshop

Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 Coming Workshop

Rain Public Planning will be presenting Emergency Operations Planning (EOP) Functional Annexes Creation Workshop, Friday, February 23, 2018, from 9 AM to 3 PM at Johnstown/Altoona Intermediate Unit 8. 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In this workshop, participants will learn the concepts and practices needed to create EOP Functional Annexes for their School or District. 

At training, participants will be provided with national best practice model school EOP Functional Annex templates, and other useful planning aids. Working together in school teams, participants will learn through the process of creating core EOP Functional Annexes, under the guidance of public safety planning professionals. 

This training will aid participants in drafting the following core EOP Functional Annex segments, as time permits:

- Evacuation
- Reverse Evacuation 
- Lock-Down (with Keep-Out and Stay-Put)
- Shelter-in-Place
- Safe-Cover
- Drop, Cover, & Hold
- Hold-Students
- Accounting for All Persons
- Communications

ITEMS REQUIRED:

- Laptop computer(s) capable of editing Word DOCX documents
- Computing ability to navigate, edit, copy, paste, and format documents
- Current copy of your school’s safety plan and guides

10th National School Response Conference Las Vegas, Nevada

We express our gratitude for the honor to be a guest speaker at the January 24-25, 2018, 10th. National School Response Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. At this conference Garret Rain spoke on: "Common School Safety, Security, and Planning Vulnerabilities Explored." The session was well received with great participant discussion.
